A member in receipt of benefits or salary can open a savings account at any time.
Each new adult member of Just Credit Union will automatically have a savings account opened in their name.
The first deposit into the account should be at least £5. This covers the one-off membership fee of £4 plus a minimum of £1 to open the account.
The minimum required balance in this account is £4 to keep it open. This level of savings must be obtained within 6 months of the account being opened.
If the minimum level is not attained within 6 months Just will close the account. You will be contacted prior to us taking this action and given the option of meeting the minimum requirement or closing your account.
Members qualify for an annual dividend subject to one being paid.
FREE life insurance pays £1 for every £1 saved - doubling the amount deposited by members under the age of 65 up to a maximum of £5,000. Deposits made by members over the age of 65 are not covered by free life insurance.
Regular savings of £5 per week are normally required to keep the account active.
Members may close their savings account at any time by completing a Closure of Account form. Just Credit Union reserves the right to require a maximum of 30 days notice of the account closure.
Members closing their savings accounts automatically end their membership and cease to be shareholders in Just Credit Union.
Junior Saver accounts can be opened by adults for children from birth up to the age of 16 years.
Proof of identity is required to open a Junior Saver account. If the account is being opened by a parent or adult who is already a member of Just then either the child’s birth certificate OR NHS medical card are sufficient. If the adult opening the account is not a member then in addition to the child’s birth certificate OR NHS medical card he/she will also need to provide a utility bill OR bank statement to confirm their name and address.
Parents, guardians, relatives and friends can also deposit savings into the account in cash, by cheque, standing order and payroll deduction.
There is no minimum savings requirement for young savers.
Junior Savers under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult to withdraw money from their account.
Junior members can administer their account from the age of 8 years.
Withdrawals can be made at any time from Just’s main office.
As junior members of Just all Junior Saver account holders are entitled to receive an annual dividend payment.
